Uninterrupted Sustained Silent Reading is an important part of all English classes at Claremont Secondary.  The English department firmly believes that in order for people to become good readers, they must read.  The more you read, the better you get.  Reading is a life long skill and the Claremont English Department thinks that it is important that every student is given time to develop this important skill.

Scoring Guide:

  • A = 10 or more books.  Of those books, one must be a classic and one must be from the grade 10 list.
  • B = 8 or 9 books.  Of those books, one must be from the grade 10 list.
  • C = 6 books of your choice.

Team Challenge: For every 200 pages read  in a book, you will receive 2 points for your team once you fill out your USSR form.  If you read any of the bonus books, you will receive double the amount of points.
